Dr Jayaguhan Chelladurai (Dr Jay) is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and a familiar face in general practice on the NSW Central Coast, where he has lived and worked within the local community since 2008. He currently practises as a General Practitioner at The Surgery, Kincumber.
Dr Jay completed his medical training in India in 2000, before building a broad clinical career across emergency and general medicine in the UK and Australia. He began his Central Coast journey at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, before undertaking specialised general practice training in Inverell, a rural NSW town. That training gave him a depth of knowledge in practising medicine with limited resources as well as very challenging circumstances. An experience that has shaped him to be GP to practice with patient centered, tailored modern and precise care..
Since 2015, Dr Jay has been a dedicated GP across the Central Coast, including running his own practice, Family Medicine Umina Beach, from 2017 to 2021, where he cared for a large local elderly population and held admitting rights at a nearby private hospital.
Dr Jay has a special interest in managing complex, long-term conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, as well as treating minor emergencies including wounds, cuts and minor fractures — care that reflects the everyday needs of a growing regional community. He also performs skin checks for skin cancer and skin cancer procedures, an especially important service given the high UV exposure and outdoor lifestyle of the Central Coast.
Dr Jay is also well versed in workers' health, including workers compensation medicals, and is an authorised health practitioner for railway medicals.
Dr Jay provides occupational vaccinations such as Q fever vaccination, as well as travel health advice and vaccinations for those heading overseas.
